The weird looking thing is an animal. It is the Altrechoana-Eiselti.
Atretochoana is an amphibian that looks like an earthworm or a snake. Atretochoana was thought to be extinct until 2011 when researchers rediscovered a specimen in Mosquiero Island, near Belem in Brazil. It is such a rare species of animal that scientists do not even know if it is endangered or not.
According to the online encyclopedia wikipedia.com it was known only from type specimen in a museum in Vienna, Austria until 1998.
It is an amphibian with no lungs, a sealed nostril, a cheek that is mobile and can grow to a length of 80.5 cm (2.64ft).
