Gunmen kill Nassarawa State governor's driver in wife’s presence

The police in Nasarawa State said yesterday that some gunmen assassinated Mr. Abdullahi Mairuwa, the Head Driver of Gov. Umaru Al-Makura of the state.
ASP Ismaila Numan, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia.

Ancient Temple found under house

Seven men were arrested in Giza, Egypt last week after they dug up a 3,400-year-old temple under a house there, the Egyptian news website Ahram reported.
The antiquities police briefly detained the suspected looters but released them once it became clear that the area where the temple was found is not an official heritage site.
"Modern Egypt is literally stacked on top of old Egypt, so there’s a lot to find," British archaeologist Nigel Hetherington, who has worked extensively on the restoration of Egypt’s heritage, told The Telegraph

15 passengers drown in Sokoto river

No fewer than 15 passen­gers drowned last Thursday night when the vehicle they were traveling in suddenly lost control and plunged into River Rima in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
An eyewitness said the victims were returning from a journey to their home­town, Dan-Wawaru village en-route Takakume village in the same local govern­ment area.
