ultra thin iPAD air 2 unveiled

Apple today introduced iPad Air™ 2, the thinnest and most powerful iPad® ever. Now just 6.1 mm thin and weighing less than a pound, iPad Air 2 features an improved Retina® display for enhanced contrast and richer, more vibrant colors, and better cameras for taking stunning photos and videos. Available in gold, silver and space gray, the new iPad Air 2 and iPad mini™ 3 offer Touch ID™ so users can unlock their iPad with just the touch of a finger and make purchases easily and securely within apps using Apple Pay.
Apple upgraded the processor inside the iPad to the new A8X chip, a more capable version of the A8 found inside the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The new chip has a whopping 3 billion transistor against 1 billion for last year’s A7. Apple says it’s 40% faster and that some apps will run twice as quick. It also claims graphics performance is up by 2.5x. What it didn’t say is whether there’s more RAM in there than the 1GB available on the iPhone. Some examination of the parts suggests the RAM has, in fact, been doubled to 2GB.
Pre-orders start Friday, October 17, and the tablet starts shipping the following Friday, October 24. Wi-Fi model pricing looks like this: $499 for 16GB; $599 for 64GB; $699 for 128GB. Cellular models are more expensive, as we'd expect: $629 for 16GB; $729 for 64GB; $829 for 128GB.
